I shot images for each of the seven deadly sins. I was inspired by artists online, who I’ve seen interpret these sins in really interesting ways. I looked for objects and symbols in my own home to resemble them in an abstract way. For greed I shot money which has a much clearer symbol than my photos of lust, where I shot a fake flower with a red lens, and later edited it pink, to play off of flowers symbolizing love and the saying “rose colored glasses.” The pink lens distracts from the fact that the flower is fake, like how lust blurs the lines between real and fake, good and bad. For anger I shot fire and smoke, to resemble the fire that builds inside you when you’re mad, and how you cool off afterwards. For gluttony and sloth I shot each of my cats, one of my cat licking her empty food bowl, and another two of my cat being lazy and sleeping all day. Gluttony also includes a photo of a gingerbread decorated nutcracker, which I thought was a good symbol since it’s “made” of food. I based my photo for envy on the saying of the “green-eyed monster” jealousy is, considering how envy leads/also causes jealousy, and for pride I shot two mirrors in front of one another, to symbolize the pride in ones self it takes to look in the mirror 24/7.
